Lancaster AutoBrik® Machine

The History

Throughout the years, soft-mud, sand molded or water-struck, Colonial style building bricks have always enjoyed a steady, highly profitable market. By far, the largest producers of these bricks in America have been the Lancaster AutoBrik® Machines.

A brick made in a Lancaster AutoBrik® Machine is a soft-mud brick created individually in wooden molds with a light sanding as a coloring and release agent. Water can also be used as a release agent, producing "water-struck" brick. This individual molding, combined with the unique Lancaster mold bumping system, can produce a very distinctive brick in high demand by architects and builders alike. Water-struck bricks, pavers, flat roofing tiles and refractory brick are also produced in Lancaster AutoBrik® Machines.

In 1858, Mr. Henry Martin, originally from Lancaster, England, introduced the first brick machine - powered by a horse. The rugged Lancaster® AutoBrik Machines are direct descendants of this machine. Today, the Lancaster® AutoBrik Machine automatically produce Colonial style bricks which meet the highest product standards and still retain the beauty of the old hand-formed brick. The Lancaster AutoBrik® Systems are the largest producers of sand molded and water-struck brick in the U.S.A.

The New Lancaster Autobrik® System

These newly designed Lancaster AutoBrik® Systems are hydraulically operated with PLC controls. These machines are designed for easy installation, simple operation, and low maintenance costs.

Lancaster® Products produce 3 models of Lancaster Autobrik® Systems

The Lancaster AutoBrik® Model 24H System is designed for the production of special shapes or limited production runs. The Model 24H is very versatile with fast and easy changing of mold sizes. The Model 24H can produce 4 standard brick equivalent/mold; however, the mold box area will accomodate molds up to 24" x 15-1/2" x 9-1/2" high.

The Lancaster AutoBrik® Model 30H is an intermediate production system designed for moderate production rates. A mold can produce 6 standard brick.

The Lancaster AutoBrik® Model 46H yields high production and is designed to operate in an automated system. (Production rates at 10 brick/mold are approximately 16,000 brick/hour.)

The Lancaster Autobrik® Production Systems

Lancaster AutoBrik® Systems are available from basic, manually operated systems, to fully automatic systems.

For high production systems of the best quality bricks at the lowest overall cost, Lancaster® provides a completely automated brick forming system. This system accepts prepared raw material and provides finished green bricks to the dryer car loading system. The system is fully automated, including automatic, on-demand, mold washing, requiring only two people to operate.

Press adjustments and production rates can be changed quickly with our user-friendly computer control system. The production line has automatic homing, machine setup, and fault enunciators to simplify the operation of the Lancaster AutoBrik® System.
